Have questions about BOTOX®, fillers and stimulators?  Here are some of the most frequently asked questions here in the office:

What are "Botox", fillers and stimulators treatment?

“BOTOX”, fillers and stimulators temporarily diminish creases, wrinkles, folds and adds volume to treatment areas in people 18-65 years old. “BOTOX” is used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe from lines between the eyebrows, commonly known as the 1’s, 11’s, 111’s or glabellar lines. Fillers are used treat creases, wrinkles, folds and add volume to areas such as the nasiolabial folds, oral commissures, lips and perioral lines. Stimulators are volumizing fillers that work by stimulating collagen production.  As a result, stimulators add volume under the skin overtime, smoothing moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as the nasolabial folds.

What is lip enhancement

Lip enhancement is achieved by injecting the lips with fillers.  Fillers ad volume to the treated area providing fuller, plumper lips and reduce fine wrinkles around the mouth.

How long until the results are noticeable?

Initial results of “botox,” fillers and stimulators can vary between products. Majority of patients are able to see full results after 7-10days.  A follow-up appointment 1 week after the procedures is recommended for evaluation and adjustments as needed.

How long do the results last?

Results are dependent on what products are being used. “Botox” can have results that may last from 3-4 months. Fillers may last up to 6 months. Stimulators may last up to 9 months. Individual results for each product may vary.

How long is the procedure?

Once an initial examination has been conducted and a treatment plan has been created, the entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes.  No downtime or recovery period is required for the treatment.

Are the procedures painless?

Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Local and topical anesthesia are used to reduce discomfort during treatment.   An icepack may also be used to further reduce discomfort.

Are there any side effects?

To minimize bruising, inform your provider if you are using blood thinners, such as ibuprofen, aspirin or herbal preparations prior to your procedure.

What are the benefits of combination treatment of “BOTOX,” fillers and stimulators?

How does “BOTOX” work?

“BOTOX” is administered by a healthcare professional as a simple, nonsurgical treatment that is injected directly into the muscles between the brows (corrugator and procerus muscles). It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that cause moderate to severe lines to form between the brows.

Will I still be able to make facial expressions?

Yes, the muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows is temporarily reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

What will happen to the moderate to severe frown lines between my brows if I choose not to continue treatments?

If you do not continue treatments, the moderate-to-severe frown lines between your brows will gradually return to the way they looked before treatment.

What are fillers?

Fillers are made up of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a naturally occurring polysaccharide found in human skin.  HA is biocompatible and biodegradable.

How do fillers work?

Fillers are injected into the skin to soften wrinkles or folds by adding volume.

What can I expect during the procedure?

During the procedure the injector may massage the treated to ensure an even correction. This may cause temporary localized redness. Applying an icepack or cold compress to the treated area following the injection may help reduce swelling.

What are stimulators?

Stimulators are volumizing fillers that work by stimulating collagen production adding volume under the skin to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as the nasolabial folds.  Radiesse is a stimulator that is used in our office. Radiesse is comprised of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel carrier

How do stimulators work?

Once injected, Radiesse provides immediate volume and correction while continuing to work by stimulating the body to produce its own natural collagen. CaHA is absorbed by the body and metabolized leaving only your own natural collagen.
